Director – West and Southern Africa

Justice Roli Harriman is the current Director of the West and Southern Africa region, currently made up of Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. Director – East and Central Africa

Lady Justice Henrietta Wolayo has been a Judge of the High Court since 2013. She is the Director on the global IAWJ Board for East and Central Africa She is the immediate Past President of IAWJ Uganda Chapter (2018-2022). In October 2022 at the 17th IAWJ Africa Region Conference held in Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala Uganda, she was endorsed by the distinguished assembly of women judges from across Africa as the next President of the IAWJ Africa Region for a period of two years. Country Chapters

The IAWJ Kenya Chapter comprises 255 women Judges and Magistrates, but has also opened membership to male Judges, Magistrates and Kadhis who are champions on GBV, the HeforShe (currently 17). Its vision is to be the custodian for human rights and gender justice, and the mission is to promote access to justice for women and children through gender parity, development of jurisprudence, awareness creation, empowerment, and mentorship. The Tanzania Association of Women Judges (TAWJA) is a Professional Association of Women Judges and Magistrates, formed in 2000. Currently, all the Women Court of Appeal and High Court Justices are TAWJA members. TAWJA’s vision is equal justice for all without discrimination. Current President is Lady Justice Barke Sehel, JA. Uganda

The IAWJU was established on the premise that through informed leadership, female judicial officers can be catalysts for social transformation. The work of IAWJU is not restricted to women but is focused on access to justice for all vulnerable groups – women, children, youth, the elderly, people with disabilities and other underprivileged groups. South Africa

Ghana

Nigeria

The National Association of Women Judges in Nigeria (NAWJN) was formed in 1991 and has a current membership of about over 300 women judges of different rankings in the six geopolitical regions of Nigeria. The main aims are to disseminate information amongst women judges, increase the membership of women judges, engage in research on women judges, and to collaborate and co-operate with women judges worldwide.
